The start of the trail is in the village of Sarbanovac, located on the southern slope of Rtanj (below the Gola mountain massif) at an altitude of 510 meters above sea level. The trail rises slightly above the village to the Ravnište plateau (640 m above sea level. After the plateau, the trail winds to the northeast and passes through a cut between the peaks of Gola mountain and Vodeni kamen through sinkholes of various dimensions. The road continues further north and one of the most beautiful pits, Velika Porica. The pit descends vertically about 10 meters in the form of cascades and at the very bottom forks into several cave corridors. In the pit, the descent is secured by metal ladders, but caution is recommended when descending.

The hiking trail to the top of Šiljak starts at the foot of Rtanj near the place Tomićeva koliba or known as Ledenička Strana (845 m above sea level). The hikers can reach the place Ledenička Strana by a macadam road from the village of Mužinac (6 km). This trail is without springs, so in the beginning, every mountaineer must bring a minimum of 1.5 litres of water. During the entire section of 6 kilometres, the trail has a stone surface where it is replaced rarely by forest or earth surface. From the beginning to the end, it has a constant but gentle ascent to the very top, so it is the easiest trail that leads to the top of Rtanj. Till 1200 meters above sea level, mountaineers do not have a special view of the surroundings but at higher altitudes, i.e. when they are on the Šiljak hill, they can enjoy a beautiful view to the south, i.e. to the Sokobanja valley and mountains south of it.  Regarding the condition of the mountaineers, the total ascent time to the top of Rtanj amounts between an hour and a half to two hours. From the top of Rtanj, each mountaineer has a view to four corners of the world, up to 100 kilometres around so that all Rtanj fans can see the mountains in Sumadija, Bulgaria, Romania. The total length of the trail (with return) is 12 kilometres with a height difference of 751 meters.

The trail starts from the village of Milušinac at 450 meters above sea level, after a 2-kilometre walk through the village, you come to a crossroads where the roads to the mountain Slemen and Krstatac separate. At this place, turn right to the trail that leads up a slight hill to the top of Šiljak (1070 m above sea level). The trail has a large number of smaller intersections and turns, but to the top, there are mountaineering signs. Also, there are two springs, but it is recommended to take at least a litre and a half of water. The trail mostly has a stone surface (used forest roads), very little (at the fourth kilometre) enters the forest (hornbeam and beech). At the fifth kilometre, the trail turns towards the top through a clearing where a limestone plateau of the mountain emerges. Krstatac Mountain provides every mountaineer with a beautiful view of the four corners of the world. From this mountain, you can see the mountain Rtanj as well as the wreath of the Old mountain. The highest altitude on the trail is the peak Šiljak (1070 meters above sea level). The total length of the trail is 6.5 kilometres with an altitude difference of about 700 meters.

The trail starts on the hill Crkovac (Church of the Holy Trinity) where there is a local museum in Vrmdža. Also, the hill Crkovac is a beautiful lookout point. The trail continues to the north through the village to the school and the Latin town - the rock where the Latin town used to be, known for its beautiful view of the Sokobanja valley. From the Latin town, the road leads along the Vrmdžanska river towards Vrmdžansko lake, located at 610 meters above sea level. From Lake Vrmdžan, the trail leads north to the town of Vasiljevac and then to the highest point of Oblozi, 665 meters above sea level. Oblozi represents the highest point of the hiking trail, a place with a view of the valley of Crni Timok and one of the most beautiful views of the mountain Rtanj. The trail changes direction by 180 degrees and gradually loses altitude, along the way, it passes by the place Mirkov potok (source of drinking water "Čisti kladanac") and continues towards the place Vidikovac. At the top of Vidikovac there is a view of the village of Vrmdža from the northwest. The trail continues to descend and "intersect" the asphalt road where it gradually rises again to the Sokolovica rock, which is also one of the lookouts. After Sokolovica, the trail gradually loses its height to the river Oravica and the gorge Devojački kamen, crosses the Vrmdžanska river and gradually rises to the final point - Latin town. The length of the trail is 15 km. The trail starts at the place "Ozrenske livade" where the road further separates towards the Kalinovica picnic area. After the first kilometre, there is the place Bekčir, where the meadows gradually turn into beech forest, and already at the third kilometre from the start, you reach the Sopur spring (820 m above sea level). After the Sopur spring, the trail continues south through a beech forest to the place Natema (where the asphalt road is crossed) and crosses the mountain Ozren. At the fifth kilometre from the start is the place Venčić (930 m above sea level) from where there is a beautiful view to the south of Serbia. Here, the trail leaves the mountain Ozren and turns slightly east towards the foot of Oštra čuka (west side of the peak) and the very top. Oštra čuka (1075 m above sea level) is located at the sixth kilometre from the start. The top is pyramidal in shape and is only accessible from the east, the other sides are in the form of steep sections. The path from the base to the top has a limestone base but does not pose a great risk. From Oštra čuka there is a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains (Devica, Ozren, Suva planina). The trail continues to the east and turns right towards the main ridge of Virgo, where the meadows gradually turn into a stone (limestone) base. At the eighth kilometre from the start is the peak Aleksin kamen (1100 m above sea level) from where there is a beautiful view to the west of V. Jastrebac, Ozren and Oštra čuka, to the northwest to the Sokobanja valley and Bukovik, to the south and southeast there is a view of Old mountain. Svrljiške mountains, Suva mountain, Vidojevica, Kukavica and Radan mountain.

From Aleksin kamen, the road leads further south through the limestone plateau of Device, gentle ascents alternate with gentle descents to the place where the road to Škrapar separates, a limestone stone furrowed by scrapes, attractive for photography. At the eleventh kilometre, there is a separation for the top of Device (Čapljinac 1186 m above sea level). It is about 50 meters from the separation to the top. After the top, the trail passes through sinkholes to the east and then changes direction to the south and passes between the peaks of Čapljinac and Orlovo korito to the Rajčinac plateau (1084 m above sea level) where a view "opens" to the south and the mountains of southern Serbia. The trail descends to the south along the Lešanski del slope to the place Ravnište (960 m above sea level), where the harder and easier trail that leads from Novo Selo join. The plain is located at the fifteenth kilometre from the start. From the place Ravnište, the next four kilometres the road passes through a pine and hornbeam forest to the village Radenkovac and the place Branište (738 m above sea level) where the mountain lodge is located. The length of the trail (in one direction is 17 kilometres with an ascent of 665 meters and a descent of 578 meters.
